I'm a Nomad
By Summer
I'm a nomad crossing the scorching sands
Running, Riding from the pain of the sun beating on my back
Looking, Searching for a drink from a doeskin sack
I'm a nomad wishing for the land that I wish I could grasp with my hands
The sands are high almost like a painful wave
Nothing to shield my eyes from the hard rain
Can't stand to walk but I can feel the camel's pain
The sands are high but the memories of water and land I forever save
Under the north star I dream of that day we'd stop
Hoping, Wondering how long we'd stay
Knowing that we'd only stay till day
Under the north star I know that we must keep are minds as hard as a rock
I'm a nomad crossing the scorching sand
Finally we rejoice at the water and oases
But we know that we must still run from the wave and move to other places
But everywhere I go the wind seems to whisper:
I'm a nomad crossing the scorching sand
Not stopping, not resting until I find new land

From the title, the reader can infer that the poem is about the narrator being a nomad. But what does that mean? Of what consequence is it in other aspects of the world? There doesn't seem to be much explanation of nomadic life here other than what you could find in the history books. And that doesn't really hold up poetically because you're not getting inside the nomad's head, not seeing or feeling what they see or feel.
It seemed like the whole poem was saying the same thing in circles until I reached the last line. But that's the last line, and there's nothing that can happen past that. See if you can write it (a) like you really are a nomad, what you might think about and feel (b) without the rhyme.
A few of the lines in this poem had an unclear meaning to me. Otherwise, your description was very good. Also, I liked the beat of this poem. Very nice work.
